Un poquito about the blog

UN POQUITO DE EVERYTHING simply translates to A LITTLE BIT OF EVERYTHING…in Spanglish. Spending my younger years in Puerto Rico and then moving to the U.S. not knowing much English, made the transition of language a bit challenging. Little did I know, Spanglish had been a way of life for not just this confused Puerto Rican kid living in Florida, but for millions of other Latin folks who created an entire vocabulary out of chopped up English and Spanish words and sentences. Y’all might not understand, pero we know de lo que estamos hablando. With this blog, my goal is to share my thoughts (not that they will necessarily always make sense), entertain, spread positivity and hopefully inspire someone in some way. I’ll share travel tips, banging ass food recipes, my opinion on new music, movies and TV shows. I’ll let you know what I’m reading AND keep you posted on what I’m writing. I’m a proud husband and #girldad, so of course that will be a frequent topic discussed, especially the embarrassing stories I can use to blackmail my 3 month old when she hits her teenage years.

un poquito about me

If you haven’t caught on yet, my name is Luis. Born in The Bronx, New York and spent some of my early childhood in Puerto Rico. In 1995, when I was just 10 years old, my family moved back to the states, where I learned to fully embrace the earned title of ‘Florida Man’. I’m a proud college dropout, Air Force AND Navy veteran, and now I work as an air traffic controller in the FAA. I’ve traveled to over 25 countries and have had just as many jobs and cars. It’s been a wild ride for sure, but as of 2016, I have been domesticated by my drop dead GORGEOUS wife Krystal and more recently tamed by newly born spicy daughter, Gabriela.

I’ve recently set out on a journey of becoming an author with the full intention of seeing one of my books being made into a movie or series. That is my ultimate goal in writing (for now). I released my first novel, WHAT’$ ¥OUR NUMB€R?, in March 2022 via Kindle Direct Publishing but after the overwhelmingly positive feedback the book has gotten, I decided to re-release the book with a fresh cover and broader marketing under my own company, Fly The World Publishing. It is set for release in March 2023 on its one year anniversary. RESERVE YOUR COPY NOW! I have two other stories that are slated to become trilogies as well, before branching out and trying to write a few children’s books and possibly some YA novels.

As a Puerto Rican author, my intention is to use my platform to give light to Puerto Rican characters, cultural references and locations in order to expand the current lack of representation in various forms of worldwide entertainment. We have a very vibrant culture with rich traditions and even more beautiful people. Also, my passion for travel will be very present in the story lines I will tell. They say write what you know, and TRAVEL is definitely my thing

I hope you’ll enjoy reading my content as much as I enjoy writing it. If you don’t, as we like to say in Puerto Rico…

VÉTE PAL CA…

Never mind, I’ll be nice. Have a wonderful day.

It’ll be weird if I’m the only one ‘liking’ my posts. I’m always open for suggestions, open dialogue and willing to either interview or be interviewed, so feel free to engage on any of my posts
